The Space
82F Galgate has a homely living area. The perfect place to unwind with your loved ones, you can relax on the sofa and chairs, whilst watching Freeview or a DVD on the flat screen TV.

Fully equipped for self-catering stays, the kitchen has everything you could need to prepare meals easily. Also sharing this space is the dining area which includes a dining table and four chairs.

Upstairs on the first floor, you’ll find two bedrooms, both with en-suites. Both rooms feature double beds with comfortable mattresses and premium bed linens to ensure you have the best sleep possible.

The en-suites have showers, basins, and a WC for your use.

82F Galgate is located in the historic market town of Barnard Castle. Featured within the Guardian’s ‘10 of the UK’s best small towns’, there is something for everyone here. If you love to shop, the town has many antique shops so treasure seekers will be in their element. There are also lots of independent stores which you wouldn’t see on the average high street. Take your pick of restaurants, cafes and pubs which serve lovely home-made food.

Barnard Castle is also known for its 12th century castle. The English Heritage property has great views over the Tees Gorge. You can try to spot Richard III’s boar emblem carved above the window in the inner ward or explore the sensory garden.

Getting Around
The closest train station to Barnard Castle is Bishop Auckland which is served by trains to and from Darlington and Middlesbrough.

There are a number of bus routes throughout Barnard Castle. Hop on the Arriva X76 or X75 which travels to Darlington.

Good location on edge of town centre, so quiet at night, especially in its cul-de-sac location. Kitchen looked well-equipped, but was wasted on me, as I was using it as a place to sleep in order to attend functions in the town and visit friends, so ate out for all meals. TV is Firestick equipped, so able to log onto my own account and watch my Netflix/Amazon Video, as well as use apps like iPlayer, All4, ITV Hub, etc. Both bedrooms are ensuite shower-rooms with sink & toilet and water pressure was good in shower. The hot water temperature was also good. Bed was comfortable, bedside lockers have storage cupboards in them and there are electric sockets both sides.
Somewhat lacking in storage space in bedrooms - e.g. no wardrobe, but a chrome coat stand for hanging things on hangers and what I presume was a trouser stand for hanging two pairs of folded trousers (never seen something like it before).
Dressing table is only a free-standing "bench" three feet wide by six inches deep, due to space constraints, and has no drawers, so doesn't accommodate much clutter.
Hand basin in ensuite is about the size of a wok and, typical of a bowl shape, it takes little to get water sloshing all over the place. I have a dislike of square toilet seats, but that's me, and the design of the seat attachment to the toilet is, as with many modern designs, prone to torque resulting in the seat twisting and not sitting centrally on the porcelain base. The only place to store stuff in the ensuite is around the hand basin (which gets wet) or on the window sill behind the toilet.
Car access up the narrow mews is difficult with anything but the smallest car, and requires reversing out. More difficult again if the next door property is also occupied. Street parking in town can be difficult to find: I was lucky to find a spot immediately outside - my neighbours also parked elsewhere, but I don't know where.
The external environment was, however, a mess - higgledy-piggledy waste/recycling bins, some with lids open and full to the brim, litter (and probably overflow from the bins) strewn all over the mews area outside the property. Not a great welcoming sight.



Excellent location,very quiet,lovely property but severe maintenance problems..central heating did not work on arrival,then broke down again overnight....garage where boiler was situated was crammed with bags of rubbish including food waste...Outside where I parked had builders rubbish including broken wood and pallets leaning on property....wife wanted to use oven dish to cook in the morning but had dead spider in it....it had been there a while...
Working heating,rubbish cleaned up and generally checking over before guests arrive...company in charge should make sure all is ok on a regular basis...
